Three new oil and gas fields discovered in Kuwait

Kuwait has discovered three new oil and gas fields, one of which is located next to the giant Burgan field.

The state-owned Kuwait Oil Co. discovered the Homa oil field, located in the north-west of the country, with an area of ​​more than 70 square meters. km, with a flow rate of 1,452 bbl / d. light oil, said oil minister Mohammed al-Fares.

The second discovery at the Al-Kashaniya field, located in northern Kuwait, near the Rawdatein and Al-Sabriya fields, brought in 1,819 barrels of light oil per day (API viscosity 49 degrees) and 2.78 million cubic meters. feet of associated gas per day (79 thousand cubic meters per day).

Ordinary oil has also been found north of Burgan. Debit – 2,000 barrels / day.

According to the minister, Kuwait Oil Co plans to intensify drilling operations at new fields in order to increase production.

According to the latest research by S&P Global Platts, Kuwait produced 2.3 million barrels of oil per day, which is slightly higher than the quota under the OPEC + deal (2.297 million bpd).

According to BP’s 2020 Statistical Review of World Energy, Kuwait had 101.5 billion barrels of proven oil reserves, representing 5.9% of the world’s reserves.
